Nail Art #4- Nautical Summer Nails

All the supplies: base/topcoat, blue nail polish, red nail polish, nail polish remover, paintbrushes. There's other things in this picture, but I didn't end up using them...
 Colors
Started out by painting my nails all white...
Then I added red and blue stripes with a thin paintbrush...they aren't great but who really cares?
This is my favorite! I added a little anchor in red on my blue thumb :) soo cute!

Sally Hansen Crackle

I just used the new Sally Hansen Crackle overcoat in Fractured Foil, which is a silver glitter nail polish that cracks when it dries. It's pretty cool, but I wish it crackled more than it did. There's too much silver on my nails, and it's not the prettiest silver I've ever seen. But all in all, it was pretty fun to watch it crack..if you're into that kind of stuff...

Baby Felt Owl

First, I did a rough sketch of the owl on a piece of paper.
And dennn, I used the "template" to cut 2 owls out of white felt.
Then I glued 2 rounded pieces of fabric (one floral fabric, one blue felt) for "wings" I guess. I also glued a little purple triangle to it's head...not really sure what it is, but it makes it look like an owl to me. I also glued on buttons for eyes and another tiny triangle (not shown) for a nose. All of this can be sewn on, but since it was so small and I was in a hurry, I just used permanent fabric glue

Then I cut the fabric "wings" to fit the body, and whip stitched all around to make it look imperfect.
Finally, fill the inside with poly-fill or cotton or whatever!

Maybelline-Blue Brilliance

Maybelline Express Finish 50 Second Nail Color in limited edition Blue Brillance (657)

Here's muh nails now. This nail polish worked really well and went on suuuper smooth, except on some fingers where there are now 1,001 tiny bubbles. I did this reeeally quick and kind of goopy, but it turned out pretty good I think. :) I love this color!! One of my new favorites.

On the other hand (..or foot..) I put the most heinous color in the whole entire world on my toenails, and I'm too embarrassed to show it. Just don't buy Maybelline Express Finish in the limited edition color Outloud Lime...I thought it would have been cool....I was wrong...I might try to make it pretty by adding a tiny bit of white and a little shimmer to the bottle.

Nail Art # 3- Feather Nail

Since feathers are so popular right now (and 2 friends suggested!) I decided to do one feather nail a while ago. I had already painted my nails this really cool old Sephora color that is metallic and changes color depending on how you look at it. The nails were a few days old when I put the feather on, so they don't look so hot in this picture. All you do is cut a feather to fit your finger, then do a coat of clear, put the feather on, then another coat of clear polish to seal it. REALLY easy!!

Tie Dye Lace Cropped Shirt

Late last night, I absolutely had to make this shirt! I got a plain white heavy-duty T shirt from Michael's, along with this tie dying kit that came with dye, gloves, and 2 fabric patterns- lace, fishnet, and a little doily thing. I used black dye in a spray bottle and the lace pattern to make this shirt, and it turned out really cute!
So I started out with the plain t shirt, and put it on top of a trash bag so it didn't go through to the table. I also but a plastic bad in between the shirt so it didn't go through to the other side.

I started out by rough-cutting the shirt shorter. I first put it on to see where I wanted it, then I just cut all the way around. Cut a little less than you think you'll want, because you can always cut more later.
Black dye in a spray bottle!
So I put the lace pattern over the shirt, and sprayed in stripes. It looks a bit like a jail shirt, but oh wells.

Then I waited overnight and washed the shirt in cold water! It's hard to tell from the picture, but it actually turned out really awesome. I cut out the neck, too, and I'm going to cut the sleeves a bit. It looks really cute on, too!!

Nail Art #2- Tribal Nails

This was a design I have wanted to do forever! Keep in mind, it was my first time to use a tiny, tiny paintbrush to draw reeeeally small shapes on my nails, so they don't look super great, but I think they look cool if you don't study them too hard :)

Nail Art #1- Water Marbled Nails

Water marbled nails look really cool and hard, but are actually really easy to do after you try it a few times, and don't try to do too much your first times. These pictures are from my first attempt at water marbled nails.
So to do this, you'll need a few things.
Vaseline, cuticle sticks or toothpicks, a small cup of water, various nail colors (I'd start with 3-4) and clear nail polish.

Start off by painting your nail one color. A light color is best, so the marbled effect will show up. Let it dry.

Cover your entire finger (excluding the nail) in Vaseline. You HAVE to do this so the nail polish doesn't get on your fingers, which is a total pain. Don't put it on your nail, or it won't stick. You can also use tape, which would be much harder.

Now the hard part for some people! Have your nail polishes ready to drip into the water (uncapped and easily accessible!) Start by dropping one color into a cup of water, and it should spread out into a large circle. If it doesn't, it isn't going to work! While it is spreading out, work quickly to drip another color into that circle, and keep going until it looks just like the above picture. The nail polish should spread out and make rings.

Working quickly so the nail polish doesn't completely dry, swirl and drag the nail polish around using a toothpick or cuticle stick. The design shown above is a safe bet that it will end up looking cool. You can't work with nail polish that is 100% dry, or it will fold up on itself and not work, but the nail polish will be dried enough that you can swirl.

I didn't include a picture of sticking your finger in the nail polish, but that is the next step. Bending your finger so that the nail is perpendicular to the floor, stick your entire finger nail at one time into the swirled nail polish. You can stick multiple nails in the cup at one time to save nail polish.   Clear the water of all extra nail polish and you're done!!!

This is another example of water marbling that I did with neutral colors from an old Essie spring collection.

I totally forgot I made this!

Soo I just found this blog that I made last summer, and I want to start it up again! I'm going to post mainly things that I've made (crafts and clothes and such) and things I buy (hauls! woo!) and my nail designs, since I get a lot of people asking me about those. The first few posts will probably be old nail designs and things I've made that I happened to take pictures of. Then I'll start doing regular posts periodically as I make more things! Yayyyyy!!!
